Alec Fraser has had two very unique careers. He has been the Commanding Officer of two United States Navy ships and has been the President of Turner Global Properties, a division of Turner Broadcasting. He has also been an on-air military analyst for CNN.

He is currently giving speaking presentations and completing a book entitled Damn the Torpedoes! Applying the Navy’s Leadership Principles to Business. The book is based on lessons learned from his business, military, and television experiences.

At Turner Broadcasting, he was responsible for overseeing the global facilities and security of Turner’s over 30 locations worldwide. Duties as the President of Turner Properties included strategic real estate planning and management, supervision of building design and construction, engineering support, security protection, supervision of property management services, oversight of technical facilities, and coordination of more than 450 Turner Properties employees worldwide.

Alec has been on-air with CNN and CNN International numerous times as a military analyst on national and international security related events. These interviews included an appearance on the Larry King Live show.

Prior to joining Turner in 1996, Alec completed 24 years in the United States Navy, serving the captain of a destroyer and cruiser.  His last command, the cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71), earned the Arizona Memorial Trophy for being the most combat-ready ship in both the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets. USS Cape St. George is a guided missile cruiser that has the latest AEGIS radar, can guide 24 missiles simultaneously, carries two helicopters, and has a crew of 500.

He was commissioned in the Navy following graduation from the U.S. Naval Academy. He later earned a Master of Science degree in systems management from the University of Southern California and graduated from the National War College in Washington, D.C.

Alec has been an active member of the Atlanta community, participating in numerous community and civic organizations. He has been President of the 500 member Rotary Club of Atlanta, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Riverside Military Academy, Vice Chairman of the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District, a member of the Executive Committee of Central Atlanta Progress, a member of the Atlanta Police Foundation Board, President of the Capital City Club in Atlanta, and an elder at the Peachtree Presbyterian Church.

He has been a speaker at dozens of events on topics such as decision making, character development, ethics and civic issues.

He and his wife Sheila live in Atlanta.
